Day 2 August 24 Students Arrive and Activity Fair

August 24
Students Arrive and Activity Fair!

Today I spent the early morning helping Linda prep for the Activity Fair, for her book club PageTurners. It's a great concept for a book club. They meet day a week during all lunch hours. Students are not required to read a particular book, but rather they discuss anything they are reading. It's a great way to book share, and for students to network outside of their own class. Approximately 35 freshmen expressed interest in the group, and many upperclassmen came by to talk to Linda about what they were reading. Later, in the afternoon, we began to prepare for the approximately 20 classes of book talks we have coming in the next 2 weeks, for English classes ranging from Special Ed to Accelerated. We started with Linda's list from last year, and built on it using the Lincoln and Read for a Lifetime lists, as well as some personal favorites. Tomorrow we'll sort the 4 carts of books into appropriate levels and divide them up as to who will talk about which book.
